My desire is to restore our lost sense of enchantment with the mysterious side of existence, via the creation of images which express and possess a dark, radiating beauty that optically stimulates, emotionally intoxicates, and psychologically fascinates.
Each photograph is a fulcrum, a balance point, within a moment or lifespan, for the first, last, and every, time.

The Usher Experiment
Dear Viewer, anyone who has visited my profile will no doubt be aware of my great love for the short story The Fall of the House of Usher by the incomparable Edgar Allan Poe. I have decided to conduct an experiment wherein I shall combine certain photographs from my vast collection of images alongside excerpts from Poe's macabre story.

"During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumn of the year, when the clouds hung oppresively low in the heavens, I had been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly dreary tract of country; and at length found myself, as the shades of the evening drew on, within view of the melancholy House of Usher. I know not how it was; but, with the first glimpse of the building, a sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit."

Thank you for your comment. I would say, however, that the image itself can be interpreted via the "utility" of Reason, although this photograph itself depicts Apollonian empiricism in direct conflict with the Dionysian impetus for revolution, change, and disorder.
Thanks for the comment. So if the universe is all about togetherness, which, in a sense I agree, what is the breaking point? At what point should their be disunity amongst us humans?
Reply: Thank you,Mr Buck, for visiting. I would respond that there should be no disunity "amongst us humans" in a perfect world.
But we know that we don't live a perfect world so, again, what would be the point at which disunity is necessary?
An interesting proposition, Mr.Buck, but not suited for the concerns of this website, which is, as the title expresses, Beyond the Limits of Reason; your question alludes to a logical, "Apollonian" system of philosophy which is beyond the more Dionysian concerns of this blog; this is an objective aesthetically concerned realm which idealistically attempts to represent a "perfect" vision, rather than discuss the concerns of an imperfect world. But thank you for your comment - I suppose that I would respond, if I had to, that disunity is never necessary; anymore than murder is necessary- it is the impulse toward disunity which ultimately manifests itself in acts such as murder. Of course, if one holds that we are all made in the divine image, I suppose that includes murderers as well. I would still hold that its all about unity, and that all matter and thought in the Universe will eventually collapse into a single point of mass and energy - the Godhead, a Collapsing Star, the essence of all into one: Unity.The beauty of a collapsing star.The Omega.
i love this photograph. was it part of your burning series? (forgive me for not remembering the title of that series). i don't remember seeing it before. the colors and textures are fantastic.
